You can update your Instacart Business account information in the Instacart app or on the website.
To update in-app or on the website—
- Tap Profile or select the drop down in the upper right of the screen.
- Tap Business Profile Settings.
- Tap Business Profile Info.
- Edit Contact or Business information.
Switch between Business and personal account
When you open Instacart in-app or on the web, a pop-up screen asks whether you want to use your business or personal account.
To switch between profiles—
- Tap Profile and select Switch while in-app, or
- Select the drop-down in the upper right of the screen and click Switch on web.
To see the carts for either profile, select the Cart icon. Then select Continue Shopping to open and view the cart associated with either your business or personal account.
Convert personal account to business account
If you only use your personal account for business orders, you can convert your personal account into a business account.
- Select the Convert your account to business banner from the Instacart homepage.
- Select Convert to a business account.
- Select Get started.
- Enter your business name and type.
- Select Create business account.
- Confirm account conversion by selecting Convert account.
Note, if you convert your personal account to a business account, you will lose access to restaurant orders, family accounts, and EBT SNAP payment methods.
You can have both a personal and business account. However, if you convert a personal account to a business account, you can’t switch it back.
Connect to a business account
Connecting to a business account lets you order through the business you work for. You’ll receive an email invitation from the account owner, and once connected, you can start placing orders.
You can also tap or click on the Convert your account to business banner from the Instacart homepage.
- Select Add business account.
- Select Connect a business account.
- Log in using your business email address and password associated with your company’s account.
- On the sign up page, enter your business email address and create your own password.
- Select Continue.
- Enter your business name and type.
- Select Create business account.
Your new account is created and connected to your company’s business account.
Unlink Business and personal account
At this time, you can’t unlink your personal and Business accounts.
Create an organization
An organization is made up of an invited group of Business profiles that can place orders for the business through Instacart.
Any Business profile that isn’t already associated with an organization can create their own organization. When creating an organization, you get the Admin role by default. You must also specify an organization name.
To create an organization—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Select Create next to Create an organization.
Before inviting others to join your organization, you must verify your email address—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Select Verify next to Verify business email.
- Confirm your business email address and select Continue.
- Enter the 6-digit code we sent to your email.
Invite team members to your organization
If you add team members to your organization, you give them visibility into spend, total savings, and spend-by-category through the business dashboard. As Admin, you also have access to individually view all orders by other organization members placed through their Business profiles.
Note, you currently can’t export your dashboard spend but be on the lookout for future updates.
Once you verify your email address, you can invite others to join your organization—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Select Invite team members.

Enter the email address of the member(s) you want to invite.
- If multiple members, separate each email by a comma.
- Select Send invites.
Note, members must join an organization using the same email address provided to the person who created the organization. Members can’t be a part of more than 1 organization at a time.
Invites expire after 1 week. If you need to resend an invite—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Select Pending.
- Select Resend next to the member you want to resend the invite to.
At this time, you can’t share payment methods with invited team members.
Switch team member’s role
A Buyer can place orders on behalf of your business. An Admin can place orders on behalf of your business, manage members and view analytics.
You can change the role of a team member from Buyer to Admin or vice versa at any time—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Under Active, select the team member whose role you want to change.
- Under Role, select the drop down menu.
- Select the role of Buyer or Admin.
- Select Save.
Transfer ownership of Business account
If you need to change who owns the Business account—
- Open the current owner’s Business account.
- Go to the Team Members page.
- Select the email of the team member that you want to be the new owner.
- Select Change under the Role section.
- Scroll down to Transfer Account ownership and select Transfer ownership.
- Select Confirm transfer.
The previous and new owner will receive an email confirming the transfer of ownership.
Share Instacart+ benefits
Businesses can share Instacart+ benefits, including $0 delivery fees on eligible orders over $35, with up to 4 additional business members. The account owner must own the Instacart+ membership. If the owner has an Instacart+ membership on their personal account, they can transfer it to their Business account.
Shared Instacart+ benefits are subject to the Shared Instacart+ terms. Available benefits may vary, see Instacart+ Benefits for more details.
Owners may assign access to Instacart+ to existing or new team members.
To share Instacart+ benefits with an existing member—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Team management.
- Select the member.
- Select Assign seat or Revoke access to update a member’s access.
Members will get an email when access is granted or removed.
To share Instacart+ benefits with a new member—
- Follow the instructions from the Invite team members to your organization section above.
- After entering the members’ email addresses, enable the Assign seats toggle under the Instacart+ section.
Transferring the Owner’s membership to their Instacart Business account—
Owners can transfer their Instacart+ membership from their personal to their Business account. Only Instacart+ memberships bought on the Instacart app or website are eligible for transfer.
To transfer the membership—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Instacart+.
- Under Explore your benefits select Transfer membership.
- Add or select a payment method.
- Complete the transfer.
Once transferred, the Instacart+ personal membership is canceled, your remaining days are added to the Instacart Business account, and you’re charged for a new one-year membership. The owner keeps the Instacart+ benefits on their personal account, except Family Sharing which isn’t available on Instacart Business.
View Task Center
This centralized section in the Instacart app, lists out a variety of tasks that you can complete in order to get the most out of your Instacart Business account.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, adding business details, signing up for Instacart+, adding tax exemption forms, inviting team members to join, and referring other businesses. These features may not be available in all locations.
Select Get started under each task and follow the prompts in order to complete and have the task automatically removed from your task center. If you don’t want to complete a task or don’t want it showing in your task center, select the x in the top right of the task to remove.
To share your unique QR referral code or link with a new business—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Invite businesses, earn money.
- Select Show QR code.
- The owner or manager of the business you’re referring can scan the QR code or you can send a link via email or text message.
View and export receipts
You can export your order receipt history to PDF.
In the app—
- Tap Account.
- Tap Your orders.
- Tap Export at the top right to export receipt(s) and get email notifications and the files of your choosing.
- Tap the relevant order.
- Select the Receipt icon.
On the website—
- Click the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner
- Click Your Orders.
- Click Export at the top right to export receipt(s) and get email notifications and the files of your choosing.
- Click View order detail on the relevant order.
- Click View Receipt.
Order guides
Order guides help you create a standardized list or catalog of food products, beverages, and supplies most commonly purchased by your company.
You can create order guides through your Instacart Business account—
- Select the 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner.
- Select Order guides then Create order guide.
- Choose a store to see available items.
- Give your order guide a name and description. Select Next.
- You can then search and select items you want added to your order guide. You can also add more items later. Select Done.
You’ll then see your order guide page. Here you can add and remove items, add and remove team members, and add all items to your cart.
If you want to add more items or remove an item in your guide, select Edit items.
To add items—
- Search for the item you want to add.
- Select the circle in the upper right of the item to add a green check mark.
- Select Done.
To remove items—
- Select the circle green check mark to the right of the item so it becomes blank.
- Select Done.
To add team members—
- Select Members.
- Select Add team member.
- Select the box next to the team member you want to add.
- Select Add team member.
To remove team members—
- Select Members.
- Select the box next to the team member you want to remove.
- Select Remove team member.
Admins and owners of an Instacart Business account can create order guides, shop from the guides they created or that were shared with them, and share guides with individual team members within their organization.
Buyers can only create order guides or shop from the guides they created or that were shared with them.
